I had a really great engagement session in Lincoln Park with Mary and Colin. Mary is super outgoing while Colin is a bit more reserved but fully engaged into the process and extremely personable. Hanging out with them was a blast and while we explored Lincoln Park we talked about their possible wedding hashtags (which I won’t give away).
One thing I really liked about this session is that both Mary and Colin wanted photos that were a bit more natural and it’s something we discussed before the session started. So I followed my process and begun building a relationship with them – because that’s how we get natural photos. Everything went great, the connection was there and they were both fully committed to the process which made the entire session really fun.
Lincoln park is an extremely popular neighborhood for engagement photos – we even pumped into a bunch of other photographers on shoots. With Lincoln Park being so popular for engagement photos, my goal is always to make the photos unique. Photos which no one else will give you. So yes, I look for the spots and light patterns which are different. It’s about the light patterns, the connection, the pace, the rapport and more – all these aspects play important roles in having a great photoshoot and getting killer photos.
Writing way too much here, this is what happens when I blog at 3AM – lol. Here’s a few of Mary and Colin’s photos – they’re awesome people!!
PS – I showed these to my wife, as I always do. And we both love that Mary wore her hair UP for the session. So classy and chic! Love it!
