Kelsey and Mark wanted to do something different – something weird. So we did – we had a Wes Anderson inspired engagement session in Wicker Park – which is a best Chicago neighborhood for weird stuff. First, before the session, we had a quick phone call to discuss some elements that Wes uses in his movies which we wanted to reflect in the session. His use of center weighted composition, color, contrast, etc.
When we started the Wes Anderson inspired session in Wicker Park – they said they weren’t photo people but they both had such a fun and calm vibe in front of the camera. We explored wicker park and took some weird photos while talking about film making, marketing and cinematography. Mark is a filmmaker so it was great to connect on that level and Kelsey is in marketing (something ever small business owner must be at least a little familiar with if they want a successful business). We talked about their upcoming wedding in San Diego and what living in Chicago meant to them.
At one point we got on the topic of how to pronounce Roosevelt – apparently I’ve been mispronouncing it this whole time. Now I pronounce it correctly (I think). Still not sure on this.
We ended the session with a few night shots like I always like to do – something different and a bit more creative. Here’s some of my favs from their session. Cheers & enjoy!
