Courtney and Tim were up for anything during their Chicago engagement session. The sun kept peeking through the clouds throughout the day but once we started shooting, it was pretty overcast. Despite the temps falling pretty quickly as the sun started to set Courtney and Tim were very invested in their session which made me even more excited to photograph them.
I use engagement sessions to get to know my couples before their weddings. And it’s not just about asking “what do you do? where do you work? blah blah boring question, boring question.” For me it’s about connecting on a personal level and developing that friendship and trust. Both of them are very well spoken and easy to engage with, not to mention really wonderful people and easy to relate to, so the session was as smooth as butter.
The session was as great as could be and we ended up with a lot of awesome photos. I love exploring new areas and that’s exactly what we did so this was super fun for me. We talked about the quirkiness of weddings, family, save the dates and a lack of parking in River North. After the session we stopped in at the Kerryman Pub for some amazing shepards pie and a beer. Yum!
This was the 2nd time I shared drinks with them and it keeps getting better. Here’s a few of my favs from their Chicago engagement session in the West Loop and a few other neighborhoods. Cheers!
