Ever since I met Annemarie, I’ve felt she was born in the wrong time. She belongs in the renaissance. Everything she does has a certain old world charm. It’s not something you come across very often. One of the reasons her and Zach are a great pair is because they have introduced each other to a lot of new things – sports, harry potter, etc. Zach is very caring and he looks at Annemarie as if they have not seen each other in a long time. It’s easy to see they’re in love.
Earlier in the year we did their engagement photos in Hyde Park – check them out here: Annemarie + Zach’s Hyde Park engagement session.
They had a fantastic wedding at University of Chicago – where Zach works. The ceremony was at the grand Rockafeller Chapel on the University of Chicago campus with a reception to follow at Hutchinson Commons. They catered pizza which was so freaking awesome since I love pizza! The ceremony was amazing and full of a few custom ritual, like passing of coins. I love when couples are unique with their ceremonies.
University of Chicago is a great spot for wedding photos because it’s old and there is ivy and greenery around almost all the buildings. I’ve photographed a few engagements there in the past but never a wedding – so you can imagine excited I was. I love ivy! We explored a bit of the University of Chicago campus for their bridal portraits and it was awesome. We were able to create some truly unique and creative photos. I love couples who trust me with a vision to tell their wedding story and are super collaborative like Annemarie and Zach!
The reception at Hutchinson Commons was pretty epic – there was not a dry eye in the house during the speeches. The toasts were moving and personal. Once the party started everyone hit the dance floor and had a blast.
We finished the night with some evening portraits in the immediate area. It was an amazing wedding at the University of Chicago and we captured some amazing moments and created awesome photos! I hope you like viewing Annemarie and Zach’s University of Chicago wedding photos as much as we did making them!
Cheers!
